Welcome!

on .

Spinnakees Fiber Farm is located in Augusta, Maine on Togus Pond. This farm believes in raising healthy & happy Olde English "Babydoll" Southdown sheep, Angora goats, German Angora rabbits and a few Silky Chickens.

We still have a few sheep & last years lambs for sale and will have lambs in April. We also have a fiber room full of beautiful yarns, roving, raw fiber and product from our critters. When you visit tell me you have seen this article and receive 10% off your purchases.

Why buy our Maine sheep? Our sheep are small, chubby, friendly and a primitive breed that is very healthy! We have been involved in the hoof study for the eastern coast and people who worked on my sheep were amazed with the small amount of hoof growth and how healthy their hooves were. Spinnakees Farm is enrolled in the Scrapie Program. This program is offering Genotype Testing and Enhanced Scrapie Surveillance.

Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 pm fiber artists are invited to join us at Spinnakees Fiber Farm for coffee, knitting, felting or just to talk and share your interests. Our group has beginners to advanced knitters, felters, crocheters, and ladies who just want to learn something new. Call and come early and I'll give you a tour of our farm.

Contact Betty Stover at Spinnakees Farm for any information about her healthy & happy Olde English "Babydoll" Southdown sheep, Angora goats and German Angora rabbits. We love visitors who might want the experience of hand feeding our critters. I believe the more contact my pets have the more socialized they will become. Spinnakees Fiber Farm is a one stop deal - Happy & Healthy Sheep, Rabbits and Goats - The nicest yarns and fibers in Maine, and don't forget 10% off all of our purchases, if you mention your visit to my website and you come to Spinnakees Farm!

New for Spinnakees Fiber Farm for 2012 - Chip Ridky, DVM, USDA-APHIS-VS, Veterinary Medical Officer, Augusta, Maine came to my farm and drew blood on 12 of my sheep. We will know in about 3 weeks how Scrapie resistance my sheep are. I had 3 of my rams tested and will use the ones who came out on top.

Also Rachel Whitney of Crown In Shield Farm is doing her internship here at Spinnakees Fiber Farm in Augusta, Maine. She is attending Unity College!

I am also offering Introduction to Needle Felting Classes at "Potatoe" in downtown Winthrop, February 26 2-4 pm and 5 to 7 pm. Nice little shop with all Maine artists.

Will you be making changes soon to my site? Maybe add slide show with all the wonderful pictures you took? Check out Crowninshield farm. Rachel Whitney will be doing her school internship at my farm this summer. You mentioned doing a documentary on my farm - what about part of it including Rachel. She is another go getter and is paying for her education by offfering horseback lessons and horse camp. I'm thinking of calling 4-H and seeing if anyone is interested in showing my primitive breed. Let me know when you make the changes I sent you the other day. Am I anxious or what! Got to get this site moving before lambing.

Betty
