2013 Why German Angora Rabbits?  The highest producing Angora rabbit.  Wonderful temperments.  Great size.  Lovely crimp.

Why have a mentor?  Why not?  Clip your first rabbit with someone who can show you how to "gentle a rabbit", how close to clip, they can walk you thru the process!  What they recommend using to clip, how often to clip.

What to feed your rabbit  (am 1 cup of 16% rabbit ration once a day, 1 handful of hay at night and clean water daily),

"Completely Angora"  by Kilfoyle & Samson is a nice resource for any Angora rabbit owner!

"Mannie" is a wonderful German Angora buck.  He produces 10 oz plus every 3 months!!  I love his tuffed ears and gentle disposition.   This is a big boy can you image what it would be like if he didn't relax when I shear him.  I plan on using him soon in my breeding soon.

German Angoras are wonderful fiber producers and very gentle. My Germans produce from 8 to 15 oz of fiber every 3 months.  I've been introducing new rabbits from Germany into my line. I've heard Angora fiber is at least 6 times warmer than wool and in Germany Doctors write prescriptions for Angora fiber garments for their patients!  I believe it is the warmth and softness that relaxes people and allows them to heal?

I am planning on purchasing Agouti German Angora rabbits from the west coast.  I will post pictures as this occurs.  Many new things are happening on the west coast to open up a new market for selling our precious German Angora Fiber.  I am very excited with idea of producing Agouti (wild rabbit color) German Angora rabbits here in Maine.  Also they are willing to purchase Angora by the pound, which will also make our rabbits and their fiber more valuable.   I love the idea of working with other breeders and people who would love to have extra income and love German Angora rabbits.  Pets that pay for themselves?   Also mentoring our youth or people younger than we are by passing on a sustainable income?

Last years kits!!

Does anyone know if there are any statistics that prove Angora is 6 - 8 times warmer than wool?
